Academic Convocation & Matriculation Ceremony

The beginning of your academic journey at Global Distance Learning Institute begins with the Academic Convocation and Matriculation ceremony. The Academic Convocation brings the GDLI family together to officially welcome and recognize all new students as members of the GDLI community. In addition to the Convocation ceremony, new students are invited to sign the Matriculation Book, signifying their commitment to GDLI. We invite you and your family to join us for this GDLI tradition.

About Academic Convocation and Matriculation Ceremony

The Academic Convocation and Matriculation Ceremony mark the official beginning of your academic career at GDLI. By signing the Matriculation Book, you are committing your best to your education at GDLI. Students sign the Matriculation Book in the President’s Office. During the Convocation ceremony, students recite the Matriculation Oath pledging to support the values of our Institute’s community.

Who Attends?

All new students attend, along with their parents and families are invited to Convocation along with staff members of the Institute.

Is Attendance Required?

All new students are expected to attend the Matriculation and Convocation ceremony.

INFORMATION FOR GRADUANDS

This is to inform the Grandaunts of the institute that the 1st Convocation Ceremonies of the Institute for the award of First and Higher Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates, will take place from Thursday, 20th November, 2014 in the Auditorium of the Institute.

BRIEF FOR GRADUANTS

Grandaunts are please requested to note the following information: i) All convoking grandaunts are advised to check their names on the list of grandaunts displayed HERE every grandaunts is expected to be in procession at 8 a.m. as the Convocation Arena will be locked shortly before the commencement of the Faculty (present) procession.
ii) Each grandaunts shall be allowed a maximum of two (2) guests. Invitation cards to such guests will be issued to grandaunts when they arrive to collect their academic outfits. Children will not be allowed into the Institutes Auditorium.
iii) It is mandatory for all grandaunts to pay for the following items, irrespective of whether or not they attend the convocation ceremony:

  • a) Hire of Academic Outfits (Convocation) - N1500
  • b) Magazine - N1000
  • iv) Grandaunts are expected to attend a rehearsal of the Academic Procession holding at 12:00 p.m on Saturday, 15th November, 2014 and 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 19th November, 2014 in the premises of the Institute’s Auditorium.
v) It is compulsory for all grandaunts to participate in the Academic Procession and wear the approved academic outfits.
vi) All grandaunts are expected to dress in full English wear (i.e. suit, shirt and tie for men and skirt suit/skirt and blouse or gown for ladies).
ix) All hired gowns should be returned by the grandaunts to their respective Officers not later than Friday 21st November, 2014. Gowns returned after that date will attract a FINE of Fifty Naira (N50.00) per day.

MODE OF PAYMENT

Grandaunts should pay at the point of collection of items listed under (iii) above.
Payment for the Convocation materials above should commence from Friday 14th November, 2014. Grandaunts are advised to pay early to avoid the last minute rush.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

On the 20TH of November, 2014, grandaunts and guests are expected to be seated by 9:15a.m prompt in the Institutes Auditorium before the commencement of the Academic Procession.
